    Biography
    Prof. Lamia CHAARI FOURATI is a distinguished professor in Computer Science and Multimedia at the Higher Institute of Informatics and Multimedia, University of Sfax, Tunisia. She is also a senior researcher at the Digital Research Center of Sfax (CRNS), affiliated with the Laboratory of Signals, systeMs, aRtificial Intelligence, neTworkS (SM@RTS). Her research is centered on the design, analysis, and validation of innovative protocols and mechanisms for emerging networking technologies. Prof. Chaari Fourati’s expertise spans a wide spectrum of digital communication networks, with a particular focus on wireless access networks, wireless sensor networks, vehicular networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G/6G mobile networks, software-defined networks (SDN), information-centric networking (ICN), wireless body area networks (WBAN), and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication systems. She is particularly interested in addressing critical challenges such as quality of service (QoS) provisioning, cybersecurity, intelligent networks, and network reliability. Her research also emphasizes socially impactful applications, notably in healthcare, environmental monitoring, intelligent transportation, water management systems, and energy-efficient systems. Prof. Chaari Fourati’s research has been widely recognized within the scientific community. She has authored over 110 journal articles and more than 150 conference papers, published in prestigious venues. Her significant contributions to science and technology were acknowledged through several awards including the 2016 Kwame Nkrumah Regional Award for Women in Science (North Africa region), granted by the African Union. Besides that, Prof. Chaari Fourati has supervised 34 Master's theses and 26 PhD dissertations, all of which have been successfully defended, in areas such as computer networks, cybersecurity, and intelligent systems.
